St. Moritz basically invented winter tourism, and it has never let you forget it. This is unabashed high-altitude glamour: designer boutiques, grand hotels, a bright Engadine sun that locals trademarked as 'champagne climate', and the surreal spectacle of polo, cricket and horse racing staged on the frozen lake. Behind the bling sits a genuinely spectacular corner of the Alps — sharp peaks, larch forests, turquoise lakes and superb, high, snow-sure skiing.
